The surgery answering machine will be in use and this will give you the number of the DEVON DOCTORS ON CALL SERVICE – phone them direct when the surgery is closed on 0845 6710 270.  Please have a pen and paper ready and listen carefully to the recorded message. 

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In some circumstances (collapse, unconsciousness, chest pain), you may be wise to phone the emergency ambulance service (999) at the same time.  You may also call NHS DIRECT on 0845 4647 for advice or information.
